Q What is Benefit Together?
Benefit Together is a Discount Health Plan.  We were formed by a group of health care experts to help people save money on their health care by entering into agreements the largest and best-in-class service providers in the United States.  We use group purchasing power to get the lowest pricing possible for our members. We “bundle” these discount services “together” and package them into four value-rich plans that enable us to deliver amazing cost savings to our Benefit Together members and their families.

Q How does a discount plan work?
Saving money on health care expenses is easy. First, you can find participating providers by using the “Find Provider” links on The Discount Plans page of our website ( or by calling Member Services at (800) 290-0523. After confirming the provider’s continued participation when making an appointment, members just show their membership card at the time of service. Members are responsible for paying all fees directly to the provider, and receive discounts at the time of payment.

Q Is Benefit Together an insurance plan?
No, we are not an insurance plan. Benefit Together provides you with significant discounts on a wide range of health care services and products; you will pay for services at the discounted price at the time services are received.

Q What type of healthcare services are included/covered in Benefit Together?
By joining Benefit Together, you receive significant discounts on ancillary healthcare services such as dental care, prescription drugs, vision care, hearing care, chiropractic care and much more, for you and your family

Q What specific healthcare services are included/covered?
Our core services for all plans include:

  • Dental, Vision care, hearing care, chiropractic and alternative medicine (such as acupuncture and massage therapy)
  • Medical doctor consultation by phone, including some prescriptions for non-narcotic medications
  • Laboratory testing (not available in MA, NY, NJ, RI.  For ‘why not’ see FAQ — Does Benefit Together offer plans in my area?)
  • Advanced radiology imaging services such as MRIs, CT scans, and PET scans (not available in HI, ND, SD, WV.  For ‘why not’ see FAQ — Does Benefit Together offer plans in my area?)
  • Diabetic supplies and medical supplies including durable medical equipment
  • Discounts on prescriptions at over 59,000 pharmacies including all the major ones like CVS, Walgreens, etc.
  • We even provide discounts on pet care and veterinary services for that other member of your family!

We also have plans that  provide legal assistance and/or LifeLock identity theft protection (except in NY state) for small additional fees

Q What are the specific details for Dental, Vision, or any of the other services?

  • Aetna Dental Access Plan – discounts from 15% to 50%, including implants, through over 81,000 dental practices nationwide
  • VSP Choice Access Vision Plan – 15% to 35% discounts through the premier vision provider network of over 34,000
  • American Specialty Health – Chiropractic, acupuncture, and massage therapy discounts of 25% through the highest quality, largest national alternative health network of over 20,000 providers. Includes fitness club discounts
  • Doctors By Phone — Through CallMD — 24/7 access to rapid, same day consultation with Board-certified, credentialed physicians, including specialists, by phone with available prescriptions for non-narcotic medications
  • Prescription Drugs — Discounts of 15% to 25% with WellDyneRx’s huge national network of over 59,000 pharmacies including CVS ®,Wal-Mart ®,Target ®, Kroger ®,Walgreens ®, Rite Aid ®, Publix ®, Safeway ®, and Costco®
  • Vitamins and Supplements — Swanson Health Products — with 10% additional discounts over their lowest price guarantee on vitamins and supplements from over 10,500 products with more than 400 major national brands like Nature’s Way ®,TwinLab ®, Now ®, Hyland’s ®, and health products including: Gillette®, Mrs. Meyers®, and Burt’s Bees® products
  • Laboratory and Imaging Services – Provided through Galaxy Health Networks extensive national provider networks for MRI, CT, Pet and other specialty imaging and laboratory services with discounts ranging from 40% to 75% for imaging and 10% to 80% on lab tests
  • Diabetes and Medical Supplies — Through Better Living Now – Discounts of 20% to 40% on over 100,000 medical supply items, durable medical equipment, and diabetes related items, as well as free shipping on orders over $100
  • Hearing Care – Discounts of 20% to 25% through HearPO one of the nation’s largest providers with 2,100 national locations with industry leading 3 year warranties on hearing aids and a 5% lowest price guarantee
  • Veterinary Services – for the other important family member, Pet Assure provides a 25% discount at 2,500 vets nationally, including surgery, pre-existing conditions, hospitalization, elective procedures, check-ups, hereditary diseases, vaccinations.

Optional services available:

  • Legal Access Plans — provides members and their family access to a nationwide network of over 17,000 attorneys that provide free and discounted legal services.

    • This program provides initial face-to-face or phone consultations with licensed attorneys who will help analyze legal problems, point out options, and recommend a course of action. Attorneys are specially selected, licensed in the state in which they practice and must comply with all rules and ethical codes in effect. They must meet Legal Access’ strict credentialing and experience requirements.
  • LifeLock Identity Alert™ System – Alerts you anytime LifeLock detects fraudulent applications for credit and services within their extensive network — includes:

    • Watching black market websites for the illegal selling of your personal information.
      Warning you when a change of address is requested in your name, helping reduce mail fraud.

    • Helping cancel or replace the identification contents of a lost or stolen wallet (not pictures, cash, or other money).

    • $1 Million Total Service Guarantee – If you become a victim of identity theft because of a failure in our service, they will help fix it, up to $1,000,000. (Restrictions apply*)

    • 24-Hour Member Service – Need help? LifeLock is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week

Q Can you send me a brochure?
Sure, We’d be happy to send one to you.  Just leave us a request through the Question form on the Contact Us tab. We’ll email you a brochure.  If you need it mailed, be sure to leave your address in the “additional information” section.

Q Does Benefit Together provide discounts for medical doctors and/or hospitals?
No, we focus on the non-medical benefits.  Medical doctors and hospitals are typically not available in discount networks at this time.  However, you can still use your Benefit Together discounts to save on medical services.  The laboratory and imaging services can save you money when you are many receiving medical treatments, and our doctors by phone service, CallMD, can save you trips to urgent care and/or doctor office co-pays when you really just need advice or consultation, or in some cases a prescription, but not actual treatment.

Q Is Benefit Together the only discount healthcare plan around?
No, there are others

Q What’s the difference between Benefit Together and other discount plans?  Why would I want to join Benefit Together instead of some other plan?
We created Benefit Together specifically to offer the best combination of healthcare services from premium provider networks.  Some other discount plans offer some similar services, but none that we know of offer our combination of the best networks and services. For example, many other discount plans have been formed by small dental or vision care companies, who offer much smaller networks of dentists or optometrists because they are promoting their own networks.  Benefit Together instead goes out and finds the best networks, without trying to promote a homegrown smaller one. 

Q I see ads for Aetna Dental Access plan all over the Internet. How is that different from your Aetna Dental services?
It’s the same plan, dental network, and discounts.  Aetna sells it directly, but doesn’t  package it with all the other great services and discounts that we provide.  We contract with Aetna to offer that same plan and network.

Q.  Why don’t you just offer Dental or Vision or other services by themselves?
We thought about it, but with just one service people might pay all year and not use it, so there would be no savings.  You will also find that single offerings like just Dental or just Vision are about 60 to 70% of the cost of Benefit Together’s Essential plan, with far fewer savings opportunities. With Benefit Together, we have packaged all of the most common healthcare services outside of hospital and medical doctor care.  It’s rare that an individual or family wouldn’t spend more than $239.40 in a year on these services (that’s the 12-month cost of the Benefit Together Essential Plan).  We want our members to actually save as much as possible.

Q What can I expect to happen after I sign up?  How soon can I use my new Benefit Together discounts?
If you sign up before the 16th of the month, you can start using your discounts as soon as you receive your temporary cards and member handbook in the mail — in about 10 working days.
New members who sign up on the 17th of the month or after can start using their discounts on the 1st of the following month
In a few days after you sign up for Benefit Together, you will receive a confirmation and welcome email and within about a week, you will receive a welcome phone call from us to answer any further questions and help get started.

Q What if I or my provider have questions about whether a discount applies for the service I need?
Either you or your provider can call Member Services at 800-290-0523 to verify the discount.

Q Does Benefit Together offer plans in my area?

We offer plans across the country, but there are a few areas that don’t allow any discount plans or certain services to be offered.

  • Discount plans aren’t offered in Montana and Vermont:
  • Hawaii, North and South Dakota, and West Virginia don’t allow radiology imaging discount plans
  • Massachusetts, New York, New Jersey and Rhode Island, don’t allow  laboratory service discount plans
  • LifeLock isn’t available in New York

Q Do I have to file any forms to get the savings?
No. There are no forms or other paperwork to file. Providers will give you the discount price at the time of your visit.

Q Is my family covered?
Yes, when you sign up as a Benefit Together member your spouse or partner or children living in the same home are all included at the same price.  We even cover children enrolled in college, but not those over 25, not in school, and living elsewhere.

Q Can I include my parents, aunts/uncles, cousins, etc if they don’t live with me?
No, I’m sorry, but for family to be included they must be immediate family living together. That would be a single parent, two spouses or partners and children living at the same address. 

Q Can my membership be denied?
No. Everyone can join Benefit Together Discount Plans. However, Montana and Vermont do not allow discount health plans to be offered in their states. 

Q Are there any age restrictions?
No, there are no age restrictions.

Q Can I use my membership when I travel away from home?
Yes, your membership can be used at any participating provider in the United States.

Q How do I sign up?
You can become a member by clicking on the “Join” tab on the website ( You may also join by phone by calling 800.381.0071.  If you received a printed brochure, you can also fill in the application on the brochure and mail it to us at:  Benefit Together, 74-923 Highway 111, Suite 188, Indian Wells, CA  92210. 

Q How long will it take me to get into the system after I sign up?
After you have filled out the appropriate information on the Benefit Together website or we sign you up by phone, you will receive your membership materials and temporary membership cards in about 7-10 days.  Mailed applications will take about one week longer.  Members who join between the 1st and the 16th of the month are effective as soon as they receive their membership materials and temporary cards.  Members who join from the 17th to the 30th/31st of the month are effective the 1st of the following month.

Q How do I get additional membership cards?
If you need additional cards for your household, or have lost your card, we will be happy to send additional cards to you. You can also call us  later at (800) 381-0071 to get additional cards when you need them. 
Q How many times can I or my family use the Benefit Together Discount Plan?
There are no restrictions for nearly all of the services included.  Members and their families may use the discounts as many times as needed.  The only exception is for the CallMD doctors by phone service, where you are limited to 12 consultations at no charge per year. In fact, you are encouraged to use all of Benefit Together discounts as often as you want to.  There is no additional cost to you and you save more the more you use your discounts.

Q I’ve seen a company called Careington listed on your website or materials. Who are they?  Why do you have them involved? 
Careington is our plan administrator. They provide some services such as helping us stay in compliance with the various states departments of insurance that regulate discount plans and managing provider partners and networks.  All discount plans use administrators and partner companies like Careington. 
Q How do I cancel my membership?
You may submit a cancellation request in writing or through the “Contact Us” tab of the website ( You can cancel within the first 30 days and  receive a full refund less your non-refundable application-processing fee. For cancellations after the first 30 days, members who are billed monthly will stop receiving monthly charges and Members who paid the annual amount will receive a pro-rated refund.  You can also call us at 800.381.0071

Q How do I contact Benefit Together?
You can reach us through the “Contact Us” tab of the website (, or you can call us.  There are three main numbers to call for help:

1.  (800) 290-0523 is Member Services. You can call this number to find a provider, questions about what services are included by each discount plan or provider network, or any other questions about your discount plan services through Benefit Together.

2.  (800) 381-0071 is the Benefit Together Member Advocate number.  Call this number if you have any unresolved questions from member services or need to reach us for other questions or issues, including cancellation requests, requests for additional cards, or to join Benefit Together.

3.  (562) 508-4883 is the number for our billing services company, Paytheon.  You should call Paytheon for questions on billing, payment, credit card payment issues, etc.
